Everyone has their own means and reasons why they start a home-based business, but in this post I want to share with you why I made a decision to start a home based business.
I can answer that question, with just ONE simple word.
I needed a new direction.
The old ways were just not working out for me.
When I talk about the old ways, I am talking about working at a job.
That was all I was ever taught, growing up.
You need to work at a job to make money and if you want to make more money and get a better job, you need to go to college to learn a new career to get a better job.
I totally understand why our parents tell us to do that. Because that is what they did and what worked for them, years ago.
But now the world is changing.
Did you know back in the early 1900’s less that 10% of the population worked for other people or the government, and over 90% of them self-employed.
Just 80 years later that flipped to 90% worked for other people or the government and only 10% were self-employed.
I believe this is the reason for that change.
We went through different eras.
First was the industrial age, where big factories and industries started to form.
What the factories needed was factories workers. (Employees) so they need to change people from being self-employed, working for their self to working like a slave for someone else.
People did not know how to work in factories, so schools were formed to give people and education on how to work in factories and take orders.
They did not get taught how to go out and become successful and start their own business. They were only taught how to do their job.
Working like a slave for some else.
Then people got sick and tired, working like a robot in an assembly line.
So this is how the agriculture era came to life.
People all over the world was planting crops and raising cattle on their land to sell them for a profit.
Then when that wasn’t making them enough money, they sold their land to developers to build businesses and houses on.
And now we are in the technology and information age.
Everything is becoming faster and easier and people are paying big money for the luxury of the modern technology and people are paying for information that will help them become more successful.
Who knows what is going to be next and who knows what the future is going to be like.
All I know is that the past is history, the future is a mystery and right not is a gift that is why it is called the present.
Why I had to make a change.
I graduated high school by the skin of my teeth. Then right after I worked at a golf course with my uncle Bill doing ground maintenance.
I realized quickly that working for minimum wage sucks.
So I did the only thing that I knew how to do. Get a loan and go in massive debt to go to school and learn a new career.
Operating machines was my passion back then, so I went to a technical school down in Florida to learn on to operate Heavy Equipment and drive 18 wheelers.
I loved it and graduated on top of my class.
When I returned back home, I opened the local news paper and flipped right to the classified section and seen 3 job postings for heavy equipment operators.
Call the very first one, set up an interview and was hired on the spot, to run portable rock crushers.
I was excited, but what I was really excited about is that I doubled my hourly wage from my previous job.
I loved it, I started out at $14 per hour and just 5 years later I was earning very close to $30 per hour. It was a dream come true. I was in my early 20’s earning over a grand a week.
But then it all came to an end faster than it all started.
Back in 2007 I lost my job, due to the economy collapse and housing market crash.
This devastated me.
I was unemployed for close to 7 months.
I had to sell just about everything I owned to pay my bills and keep the creditors off my back.
Sell my motorcycles.
Had to make frequent weekly visits to the pawn shop.
I just wanted to find another job like I had.
I just thought I was going to pick up where I left off in a different construction company.
The sad fact and the reality was.. When the economy collapses it effects everyone.
I couldn’t find a job within a 75 mile radius.
So after everything was gone and I had nothing left to sell.
I had to resort to the local news paper and call every job listed to just get any type of job I could just to make some money.
I seen an ad for a “Lawn Tech”.
I had no idea what it was, but since I worked at the golf course I knew how to mow grass.
Luckily they hired me.
But I was only going to make $10 per hour.
I was working three times as hard for a third of the pay.
I was disappointed and depressed.
Why did this have to happen to me?
I had to work there because I had no other choice.
Then I started drinking to try to numb the pain and disappointment I felt inside.
All that lead to was a DUI, Jail and $30k in fines and court cost. I lost my Class A CDL license.
I was right back where I started from.
I need a change..
If I kept going down that road of regret and disappointment. I would be in jail or dead.
That was when I was at rock bottom and could not see any light at the end of the tunnel.
No license, probation, court and misery.
Time for a Change.
I refused to go out and get a second job. I was just going to be twice as tired, twice as depressed.
I needed something new.
This is going to be hard to believe, but this is how the change started for me.
I was checking my email and seen a message for my mom, talking about making money online.
Little did I know, someone hacked into my moms email account and sent me this message.
I was so desperate, I went to the website and called them.
Turned out they were trying to sell me the secret to making BIG money on Ebay selling jeans.
I was going to do it until they asked me how big the limit was on my credit card and they told me that is what it was going to cost.
I hung up the phone, changed my phone number, changed my credit card number and canceled my email address.
But a few months later that idea kept popping in my head.
What if I could start making money online after work instead of getting a second job.
Then my search began looking for a way to make money online.
I didn’t know what to do or who to turn to.
But I was determined.
I was scrolling through my news feed on Facebook and seen a short video of how they were able to quit their jobs and live what they call the “laptop lifestyle”
The uses a proven system and process to leverage the internet to create a fulfilling and abundant live for themselves and their family.
They were going to have a live webinar coming up that was going to explain everything.
I was intrigued and signed up for the free live 10k webinar.
By the way, I really recommend you check out the free live 10k webinar coming up this Thursday.
The information in the webinar had a huge impact on my future and lifestyle.
I am not telling you I am a millionaire. (yet)
But I am proud to say that, I have 2 more payments left on my Jeep wrangler. (Paid off Early)
I have my credit card debt down to about 2 grand from 15k.
I have been adding more and more money to my savings account.
And I now have some extra money to do the things I just couldn’t afford a few months ago.
Like going to awesome places to do awesome things.
I love roller coasters by the way.
I had more time to hang out on the beach. (with wild ponies)
And more time to do what I want to do.
Like going to walk around Washing to DC.
Or just playing around.
What would you do when money is not an issue or a worry any longer?
Spend more time with family and friends?
Pay off bills?
Travel the world?
Quit your job?
There are ENDLESS possibilities.
All YOU need to do is make a change and stick with it.
Be like a postage stamp. stick to one thing until you reach your destination.
Follow one course until successful.
All you need to do is make a decision.
If I can do it, YOU can do it!
I am also here to help you and answer your questions, when you need me.
