You can have the BEST home business, with the BEST products and the BEST compensation plan in the world. But if no one knows about them and no one can buy it from you, its worth nothing.
Let me paint out a picture and make this easy to understand.
It’s spring time and you are ready to have a garage sale to get rid of some of your old stuff and earn some extra money.
The problem is that you live a 1/4 mile in the woods surrounded by a fence and your house is not visible from the road.
If you want to sell anything, you need to tell others about your sale ,that is happening next weekend.
You are going to have to get out and do some advertising.
Most people will put out signs, post fliers around their neighborhood and some will put a classified ad in the local news paper to let MORE people know about the sale.
The more people who show up, the more you are going to sell and the more money you are going to make, the happier you are. Plain and simple.
To have a successful sale you need to advertise to the right people at the right time.
I would recommend start advertising a week or two in advance and ONLY advertise to people within a 25 mile radius of your location.
It will be pretty stupid to start advertising a week after the sale or advertise your sale 3 states away.
Don’t ya think?
This is the same concept of marketing and advertising online.
If you are selling / promoting any kind of products or services, the only way you are going to accomplish your goal is to get your message the right prospects at the right time.

Take out a pen and paper and write this down!
You NEED to advertise to the RIGHT people at the RIGHT time!
Here is another example to help you understand.
Let’s say you are selling flip-flops.
Who would be most likely to buy flip-flops from you?
I would focus on advertising flip-flops to people who like going to or live near the beach in the summer time.
These people are going to be my “Target Market“.
I am not going to waste my time setting up a marketing campaign and advertise to people who live in a cold weather climate such as Eskimos.
This just sounds like common sense right?
That’s what I thought. But everyday I see hundreds if not thousands of people advertising to the wrong people at the wrong time with the wrong message.
This is kinda like fishing.
You want to know what kind of fish you want to catch, what bait would be the best bait to use and where would the best location to go and what time are the fish most active.
You need to do some research and find out who your ideal prospects are going to be and the best time and place to reach them.
I believe this is why MOST of the people who start a home based business, give up and quit in just a few months.
They do not take the time do the research to find their ideal prospect, so their message never reaches them and they don’t get any results so they give up and blame the company.
Now you are getting a better understanding about making and advertising, let’s get into they types of marketing and advertising.

Inbound marketing focuses on creating quality content that pulls people toward your company and product, where you naturally attract inbound traffic that you can then convert, close, and build a relationship over time.

Outbound marketing or traditional marketing, is the marketing we grew up with: radio, TV, newspapers, magazines, direct-mail, billboards, event sponsorships, etc. The traditional outbound strategy can even be found in such digital distribution forms as email blasts, banner ads, PPC, and SPAM.
This is the difference between the two types of marketing.

What really gets my blog posts and videos in front of the right people at the right time, is just by simply doing keyword research.
Keywords are the words and phrases people are typing into the search engines to find exactly what they want.
I discovered a powerful Keyword Research Tool that help find me kind the right words and phrases to get my content in front of the right people at the right time.
The Keyword tool does cost $19 a month but it is WORTH IT.
Using the keyword research tool is just like using a calculator in math or have to work out the problem on paper.
It’s fast and very effective.

Just to answer your question ahead of time. Yes Google Keyword Planner is free to use. But it does not even come close to information you get with the Jaaxy Keyword Tool.
Here is some awesome idea’s you can start searching and creating content for.
What I focus on is “Buyer Keywords“.
Buyer keywords are what is going to make you money.
Here are a few examples of buyer keywords you can search for.
- How to join (your company name)
- (Your company name) review
- The best place to buy (Your Product)
- Products reviews
You can also search for benefits of your products, such as.
If you are selling weight loss, target people who are searching for “How to lose weight”
You can also go after keywords such as, “How to start a home based business”
You know if you spend a few hours creating content, the people who are going to be landing on your page are really interested and are ready to join.
